The Waukesha County Historical Society & Museum fosters an understanding of the American experience through the stories of Waukesha county. Established in 1906, WCHSM is one of Wisconsin's oldest, continuous, member-based historical societies.
WCHSM serves as a resource for historic inquiry, preservation, and education in the region. Our recently renovated gallery spaces are home to the iconic Les Paul Wizard of Waukesha exhibit, and host a range of locally inspired exhibits throughout the year. On display through March is Making Faces a nationally touring exhibition of caricature work by Waukesha-native artist John Kascht.
The WCHSM archival collections are accessible for researchers by appointment in the Research Center. Members of the Historic Society also enjoy quarterly issues of Landmark magazine of history, published by WCHSM since 1958, and available by single issue in the gift shop.Student and adult learners can also book on and offsite programs with our Education Department.
